This Is Your Permission Slip
For the families who think Disney wasn't made for them.
I want to talk to a specific kind of person today.
The parent who scrolls past Disney content and feels a little pang of something they can't quite name. Who thinks about taking the kids but talks themselves out of it before they even look at prices. Who has been told, in ways big and small, that spaces like that aren't really for families like yours.
I see you. This one is for you.
Disney has a magic that's hard to explain until you're standing inside it.
And I know that can sound like marketing. I know it can sound like something a travel advisor would say because they want to book your trip. So let me be more specific.
I'm a queer person. I spent a long time moving through the world feeling like I needed to make myself smaller to fit in most places. I spent a long time protecting my family from environments that were technically open to us but didn't actually feel that way. I know what it's like to want to go somewhere and wonder if you'll really be welcome there, or just tolerated.
I didn't feel that at Disney. My family didn't feel that at Disney. We felt, maybe for the first time in a long time, like we could just be.
That matters to me more than I can say.
For the neurodivergent families.
I also want to speak to the families who have a member who experiences the world differently. Whether that's a kid with sensory needs, a parent with anxiety, a family member whose ADHD makes traditional vacation planning feel impossible. Disney has more support built in than most people know, and it's something I think about carefully when I plan for families who need it.
You're not asking too much. You're not too complicated. You're exactly the kind of family I'm here for.
Here's what I want you to know.
Magic doesn't have a prerequisite. It doesn't care how long you waited, how much you have been through, or whether you grew up thinking places like this were meant for someone else. It's available to you. Right now. Even when life feels heavy.
Especially when life feels heavy.
I became a travel advisor because I wanted other families to stop waiting the way I did. If something in this post landed for you, I'd love to talk. No pressure. Just a conversation about what a trip could look like for your family specifically.
You have permission to feel joy. I mean that.
